Sol Azabache by Prisma Corina Bartra now in rotation on radio free exile
Corina Bartra has performed all over the world, from her native Peru to her adopted New York City to Europe, where she is acclaimed by a discerning audience. There are influences from all these places as well as Eastern music in her music, but on the evidence of her latest digital recording, Vibrant Heart Beats, everything is always filtered through the music and soul of Peru. But here there is something of a different flavoring, the musical heartbeats in different tempi than her usual accelerated rhythms, and with room for additional instrumental flavors like synthesizers and electric guitar in the mix. If you need a label, you might call this an electro-cosmic Folk project! It is an altogether winning combination, featuring, as always, Corina’s supple scat vocals and the best musicians around. What’s the same, as always, is Corina’s enduring love of all music, but especially the emotive expressions of her native homeland.
